[Job Watch. 1] Share two European technical writer jobs

我分享兩項最近看到的工作。當然你也可以直接訂閱linkedin上的關鍵字，但我是追得比較密集的那種，因為我特別想知道一些變化。三月的亞洲地區如新加坡、台灣的職缺明顯緊縮，並沒有出現如農曆新年過後的大幅釋出職缺。歐洲地區和美國也沒有比較好。

These two jobs require you to use Confluence, which is relatively less popular these days. From my personal experience, companies which use Confluence generally have more solid workflow and market share in their business domain.

I had applied both because I am still vacant now.

Job 1 (InnoTech.pt) - Lisbon, Portugal Hybrid  

It's hard to find their website ( https://www.innotech.pt ), though they had a facebook page. Not much can be found from the site, but they do hire many engineers. Looks like it's an operation-based company.

Your Mission Will Be
- Prepare instruction manuals, articles and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information;
- Elaborate the technical documentation to support production, installation, operation and maintenance;
- Coordinate with product managers the technical specifications.

You Will Need
- Experience in the role for more than 4 years;
- Experience in using Confluence for documentation

Would Be Awesome If You Have
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields;
- Previous experience as technical writer of software documentation;
- Good English.

 

Job 2 (Neotalent) -Lisbon, Portugal onsite

This is obviously a headhunter agency. I am curious what domain it is.

 

What Are You Going To Do

We are looking for a Technical Writer to join one of our biggest clients, with 40 years of history, is a full spectrum technology provider for mobility solutions in the Lisbon Area.

You will be responsible for: prepare instruction manuals, articles and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information.

Main Responsiabilties

- Ensure the project teams know the scope and functionalities of each project;
- Elaborate the technical documentation to support production, installation, operation and maintenance;
- Manage the development and publishing of documentation;
- Review published documentation and make updates when necessary;
- Propose improvements to existing documentation;
- Publish and classify produced documentation;
- Coordinate with product managers the technical specifications;
- Create and maintain the information architecture.
What we value

- At least 3 years of experience in this role;
- Experience in using Confluence for documentation (or another tool);
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, English is mandatory.

 

I am not likely to visit Europe right now, but my point is that Confluence is getting less popular since 2020. It's a good tool and I haven't seen anything as a good replacement of its kind. 

Even the world has gone hybrid for work, Confluence (and similar async documentation tools) didn't become the norm or a popular choice as it was expected to be. As a technical writer, I am worried about the trend, so I am constantly looking for a more efficient way to work with tech companies, and also adopt necessary soft skills with my coworkers.

I believe this is the future of work-life balance. This should be an effective way to tackle with economical recession, aging population, over-urbanization and decline of population.
